Preview: Arsenal (H)

6 January 2018

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Attentions turn to the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday as Nottingham Forest welcome Premier League giants Arsenal to The City Ground.

Both sides enter the competition at the third-round stage and will be dreaming of a run to the final at Wembley Stadium in May.

The Reds picked up a credible point in their last outing at Leeds United on New Year's Day and will be hoping to build on that positive performance.

Arsenal are the current holders of the competition and have lifted the trophy more times than any other club, so visit Trentside with plenty of pedigree.

The FA Cup has been kind to Arsene Wenger during his tenure at the club and he is expected to field a side mixed with experience and youth.

See below for the pre-match thoughts from the Forest camp.

Team news

Kieran Dowell is set to feature for The Reds having been given permission by parent club Everton to play in the Emirates FA Cup.

Matty Cash impressed on his first start of the season against Leeds on New Year's Day so will be keen to hold onto his spot in the team, while Danny Fox also returned to the substitutes' bench at Elland Road.

Daryl Murphy will also be keen to be involved after missing the draw against Leeds through injury.

From the opposition

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger knows he will have to rotate his squad for the trip to Nottingham Forest as the fixtures come thick and fast.

The Gunners have played three games in the past week and the experienced Frenchman is set to utilise his squad for the cup match.

He said: "I will rotate a little bit because we have come out of a very high-loaded period. We played three big games in six days, twice away, with a big game at home.

"We have to keep our level of focus and urgency as the third round is always very difficult, especially when you play away from home against a Championship team.

"We play on Wednesday again so I have to rotate my team a little bit."

One to watch - Danny Welbeck

England striker Danny Welbeck is likely to be involved for The Gunners at The City Ground on Sunday, as he looks to work his way back into the starting line-up.

The 26-year-old has struggled for injuries during his time at the Emirates but is slowly working his way back into the reckoning for Arsene Wenger's side.

With Wenger confirming he is set to rotate his side for the game, Welbeck is likely to be given the chance to impress.

The match is being broadcast live on BT Sport and, due to the Emirates FA Cup being an FA-run competition as opposed to the EFL, there will be no live broadcast for international subscribers to iFollow Forest. However, live audio commentary will be available.
