Nottingham Forest’s Jack Colback said The Reds matched Fulham but couldn’t convert their chances to take something from the game.
The midfielder was making his debut for the club and felt the ability to add the finishing touch ultimately proved costly for his side.
Speaking after the game, he said: "It was disappointing with the result obviously. I think we had plenty of clear chances to take something from the game but they have gone against us today.
"We looked solid and comfortable. They had a decent amount of the ball; football wise they are the best team in the league but I think we matched them and we were organised.
"We had a lot of new faces in the team, we have only been training together for two days, and it was a great effort. The first goal we conceded was unfortunate and we had the chances after that which we haven't taken."
Colback believed it was a good effort from The Reds at Craven Cottage, considering all of the club's new signings had limited time to gel together for the game.
He added: "They took their chances when we've missed ours. But we can take a lot of positives out of the game. We have had lots of new faces come in, myself included, so it will take time to gel but on that performance we can look forward to good things.
"We've had two days, it's not a long time. It will take time but the effort we have shown is first class. Everyone was working for each other and that's the bare minimum."
