Nottingham Forest Under 18s made it three wins on the spin with a convincing 4-2 win against Bolton Wanderers at the Nigel Doughty Academy on Saturday.
Goals from Ethan Dekel-Daks, Oliver Hammond, Fin Back and Alex Mighten secured all three points against a hardworking Bolton side.
Ethan Dekel-Daks put The Reds into a deserved 1-0 lead 17 minutes in when he curled a delightful shot into the top right-hand corner. The visitors responded well though and grabbed a goal themselves from a corner. A floated ball towards the back wasn’t cleared by Forest and Edward Brown was on hand to tap the ball home.
Mighten came on to replace Keith Asare at the break and The Reds were quick out of the blocks in the second half. That showed when they edged back in front after a cultured finish from striker Hammond after some good play from Gareth Holmes’s side.
The Trotters continued to fight back and substitute Bradley Holmes made it 2-2 just five minutes later when he swept home a good move on the right to put his side level after a difficult start to the half.
Substitute Back soon restored The Reds’ lead, however. The youngster made a late charge towards the box and took the shot on first time, rifling it into the top right-hand corner before Mighten also got in on the action when he rounded off some good play by lashing a shot high into the net to put the seal on an important three points.
Forest now sit joint-top of the Professional Development League ahead of Tuesday night's FA Youth Cup third-round tie at Maidenhead United (kick-off 7.45pm).
