Nottingham Forest Under 18s ran out 3-1 winners at Burnley on Saturday to make it two wins from two in the league.
Goals from captain Riley Harbottle, Keith Asare and Jack Sherlock secured all three points for Gareth Holmes’ side as they continue to push leaders Sheffield Wednesday for top spot.
It was a rather uneventful first half at the Barnfield Training Centre with both sides failing to create any clear-cut chances, but it was The Reds who did take the lead shortly before half-time. Forest skipper Harbottle scored his second goal in two games with a fine header to edge The Reds into a one-goal lead.
Minutes before the break, Forest had a glorious chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty. Asare stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Calderbank-Park in the Burnley goal saved it to keep the score at 1-0 going into half-time.
On 62 minutes it was the home side who levelled. Edon Pruti was free at the back post to head home past Michael Statham to make it 1-1. The Reds soon restored their lead however through Asare, who made up for his earlier penalty miss when his delicate dink landed into the net to put the away side back in front.
The Reds then sealed all three points through forward Sherlock. The Forest youngster was slipped through and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball home to secure a fine win away from home.
