Nottingham Forest Under 23s picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Watford at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena.
Goals from Virgil Gomis and Yassine En-Neyah were on target to secure the three points in the Professional Development League, but the victory was overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to En-Neyah in injury time which resulted in a red card for Watford’s Tom Leighton.
The Red’s took the lead on 18 minutes as Gomis fired low past goalkeeper Sam Howes on 18 minutes, but the lead didn’t last long as Michael Folivi fired in the equaliser four minutes later.
Forest restored their lead however after the break as En-Neyah was quickest to pounce on a loose ball following Anel Ahmedhodzic’s header, and the young forward lashed home to ultimately give Forest the three points.
Watford pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t find one, and Leighton hacked down En-Neyah late on with the Watford substitute being shown a straight red card and En-Neyah leaving the field on a stretcher.
