Ben Osborn is going into the new season with plenty of optimism as Nottingham Forest get the campaign underway at Bristol City tomorrow.
There is excitement in the dressing room ahead of the first game but Osborn is well aware that they will have to fight to achieve success this season.
He said: “I always start a new season with a fair amount of optimism, but this season it feels like we have more of a chance than ever before because of the players we have brought in, the quality we can now see in training and the overall competition for places. We go into the new season with a lot of excitement.
“There has got to be a bit of caution going into it but with this club, there is always expectation even when you are fighting down the wrong end of the table.
“Hopefully this season we will be fighting towards the top and, of course, there is expectation but we have the quality to be able to deal with it.”
Osborn expects a difficult test against The Robins despite Lee Johnson making several changes to his squad during the summer.
He said: “It will be a very tough game, they have had quite a bit of turnaround with players as well so we aren’t quiet sure what to expect and if they are going to be similar to last season, but you know it is going to be a tough game.
“It is a tough place to go and we haven’t been great there in the last two years so it will be nice to turn up with a different squad and hopefully take the game to them.”
