Adlene Guedioura believes that the three points for Nottingham Forest against Reading were fully deserved following the 1-0 win.
The midfielder said it was important to get the first win of the season under their belts to launch the rest of the campaign.
Speaking after the game, he said: "We were waiting for the first win and today it was a difficult one, but well deserved.
"Today was a very important win; when you start the season you want to win. We were unfortunate in the last two games but today we deserved to win. We were very strong to keep the score.
"People may not see it now, but this is a really important win to start and launch the season.
"With everything around the club and when you go down the training ground, it is all buzzing. We want to keep playing like this and keep the club in this way and hopefully we can do great."
Guedioura praised the way that the substitutes came off the bench to make a difference in the victory, and said that the whole squad will have a big part to play this season.
"We scored at the end," he said. "We had been strong with a good defence and we were looking to score. The substitutes that came in and in the end we got the three points.
"It is our third game in the week and you can see after 20 minutes in the game that we didn't have the fresh legs from the other games. The guys came on, they did great and they gave us the energy to score.
"Everyone from the players in the 18 to the ones who are not involved today, trust me, they all deserve to play.
"This is why this team and this squad is really good. You could see today the players who came on made the difference.
"Everyone has a part to play this season and hopefully we can go higher and improve game by game."
