Matty Cash said that Nottingham Forest went out and got the three points for Juan Rafael Fuentes after the left back picked up a serious injury.
The Spaniard, making his Reds debut, was stretchered off at half-time of last night's win against Barnsley and Cash said that the players were determined to get the win for him.
Speaking after the game, he said: "We are obviously gutted for Juan. He is a fantastic player and we said at half-time that we would go out and do it for him.
"He has had to wait for his chance and I thought he was really good in the first half.
"The gaffer said that it looked like a serious injury so we went out there and did it for him. We put in a good performance, got a good win and now we can build on it."
Cash felt the overall performance was very good and that all of their hard work preparing for the game came to fruition.
He said: "We were fantastic and we have been working on things in training and it paid off tonight. We were superb and we got the three points and we can build on it.
"I loved it tonight. I had a lot of space on the wing and that is what we worked on. The gaffer got the game plan right and he said that I would get lots of the ball if I went in behind and came short and mixed things up.
"I am annoyed not to get a goal but I got an assist and most importantly the three points."
