Nottingham Forest Under 18s earned a point against Barnsley last Saturday as Brennan Johnson’s late penalty ensured they came away with a 1-1 draw.
Johnson could have put The Reds in front inside seven minutes but he skewed his effort wide when through on goal and the forward hit a free-kick narrowly over the bar on 15 minutes as they dominated the opening stages.
Tom Clare hooked over the bar for the home side and Jayden Richardson had a shot saved by Barnsley keeper Henry Kendrick as it was level at the break.
But it didn't take long for Barnsley to take the lead in the second half as Wilberforce Ocran fired home past George Shelvey from the edge of the box on 51 minutes.
The Reds rallied and found the leveller with less than 15 minutes remaining. Johnson stepped up to take the penalty and sent the keeper the wrong way.
Barnsley had Jaydan Sandhu sent off and Alex Mighten had a chance to win it in injury time but both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
