Everything clicked into place for Nottingham Forest in the 3-2 victory against Hull City on Saturday night, according to hat-trick hero Kieran Dowell.
The Everton loanee scored all three goals for Forest at the KCOM Stadium to notch his first senior hat-trick, but the 20-year-old praised the all-round performance.
He said: "It was a good night and a good performance from the lads and I was very happy to get the three goals.
"I think we have been playing well for the past few weeks. It just clicked together and we took our chances and that is the way it went."
Dowell was particularly delighted with his first goal, a thunderous strike from distance which gave Forest a half-time lead.
"I have been waiting for one of them since I joined the club," he said. "I think that was my favourite then it was good of Wardy to give me the pen at the end.
"I was looking for a pass but it seemed to open up after some good runs from the lads and their defence backed off so I took it on.
"We had been playing some good football all night and the second was a decent move. Tendayi has picked out Barrie at the back post and he has the composure to knock it down to me in the box.
"The goals came at important times. At half time we talked about killing the game and it looked like the second had done that. But they came back into the game and the third one killed them off again."
