Preparing for battle

Jamie Ward says Nottingham Forest will need to dig deep to come away with three points against Burton Albion on Saturday.

The forward made his return from injury in the defeat at Derby County on Sunday and he knows The Brewers will make things difficult at The City Ground.

He said: "We have reacted well in training but last week is gone now and there is no point in dwelling on it. We move on to the next game which is on Saturday.

"I know Nigel very well. He will have his side working hard against us and trying to cause us problems which we have to overcome. We know how hard they are going to work and how they will make it a battle for us but they also have some very good players in their team who can hurt us.

"Nigel's teams are known for working hard and making things hard for you. They will want to be in the game going into the closing stages to get the win but hopefully we can get the game over and done with by the time they come alive."

Ward picked up an injury in the pre-season match with Burnley and brought to an end a frustrating time with his return at Pride Park.

"It has been frustrating as you enjoy seeing the team winning but when they are losing you want to be out there to try and help them change it," he said. "It is always hard and is never nice but there is nothing we can do about it. We put our bodies on the line every day and sometimes you get injured, it is just part of the game.

"I feel fit and fine it is just the match sharpness now. That will come with playing games and getting match time under my belt; I just need to get in the team now to get that match time."
