A second-half goal from Virgil Gomis helped Nottingham Forest Under 23s earn a 1-1 draw against Leeds United on
The Reds had trailed to Oriol Rey's early strike for the visitors but fought back well after the break and took a deserved share of the spoils from the clash at The City Ground.
Gary Brazil's side were in good spirits after Monday's Premier League Cup win at Derby but were rocked back by a sharp start from Leeds. A ball was cleared only as far Rey who was hanging back on the edge of the area and he sent a stunning volley into the net beyond a helpless Jordan Wright.
The visitors could have doubled their first-half advantage but Jamie Shackleton headed the ball over the crossbar from close range before Wright stood firm at his near post to push away a strike from Tom Pearce.
Forest came out much brighter after the interval and levelled within five minutes. Danny Preston's terrific low cross from the left was asking to be tapped home into the net and Gomis was on hand to oblige and bring The Reds back level.
Gomis was unfortunate not to snatch the winning goal for Forest with 20 minutes to play. The Frenchman's shot hit the goalkeeper and appeared to be looping into the net before defender Liam Kitching intervened as he made a superb goal-line clearance to keep Leeds on level terms.
There were half-chances for both sides in the final stages but the crucial third goal of the contest never arrived as the two teams settled for a point.
