Keeping it going

24 November 2017

Mark Warburton is hoping to extend Nottingham Forest’s good home form when Cardiff City are the visitors to The City Ground on Sunday.

The win over Norwich City on Tuesday night made it four victories in a row on Trentside and that record, coupled with a third consecutive home clean sheet, has given The Reds' boss plenty to be happy about.

He said: "It is good to get home points, but it is good to get any points. It is pleasing to keep our record here very strong but Sunday presents another challenge. Cardiff are flying high, they won away at Barnsley which is a tough place to go to so we know what we face.

"We have had some pleasing performances defensively as a team. We had a lot of criticism about set pieces earlier in the season and the players responded really well and have defended the goal with a real passion.

"I am pleased with that but Sunday will pose us a strong physical test and there will be no shortage of quality from them. Everyone talks about their physicality but they have some outstanding players and we are looking forward to what will be a good, quality encounter.

"At the end of the day, it is about the result but you want to do it in the right way. You want to build and for the players to keep learning. We are delighted with the quality that they are showing, their desire and the strength in depth."

It is Kids for a Quid on Sunday, with tickets for ages 4-15 priced at just £1 and Warburton is looking forward to seeing plenty of young fans at the game.

"I hope to see a lot of youngsters at the game," he said. "It is a great opportunity for them to come and watch a game. We hope we can get as many boys and girls there to watch the team; we hope they enjoy it, have a good day out and hopefully we can deliver a performance for them."
