Kieran Dowell said Nottingham Forest had the right game plan but couldn’t quite execute it against Birmingham City yesterday.
The Reds lost 1-0 at St Andrew's and Dowell said that they knocked on the door but couldn't find a way through.
Speaking after the game, he said: "It was really frustrating. We gave them a goal early on and we were knocking on the door for the rest of the game but it just wouldn't go in for us.
"We had the right game plan, considering the size of their team and we tried to play around them. It was just that last bit and their keeper made a few good saves, maybe we could have had a few more shots from distance but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
"We need to find the consistency. We have a young squad and that will come with time.
"We are young but we have a lot of energy and when it works, it really works. We maybe needed a bit of know how today but we tried our best."
