A feisty encounter at The City Ground was settled by a late Lewis McGugan goal as Nottingham Forest overcame nine-man Ipswich Town. Lee Martin was sent off in the first half for clashing with Henri Lansbury and then Richard Stearman was shown a second yellow card with 20 minutes left to play. McGugan finally provided the breakthrough for The Reds in the 84th minute as his shot deflected past current Reds stopper Stephen Henderson and into the corner.

Nottingham Forest came back from 2-1 down to score twice in the final six minutes to beat Ipswich Town at The City Ground in the 2011-12 season. Defender Danny Collins headed home Aaron Cresswell’s cross to put Ipswich in front before Robbie Findley equalised just before half time with his fifth goal of the season. Collins then restored the lead for the visitors with his second of the game after he headed in Jimmy Bullard’s corner. Joel Lynch converted Andy Reid’s cross to level the tie in the 84th minute before Marcus Tudgay nodded home Greg Cunningham’s lofted pass to complete the turnaround.

A moment of magic from Lewis McGugan on the stroke of half time secured three points for Nottingham Forest against Ipswich in the 2010-11 season. David McGoldrick put Forest in front inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour before McGugan hit a sensational free kick from 35 yards which arrowed into the top corner, with the strike being voted as the greatest goal ever to be scored at The City Ground.

A 3-0 win against Ipswich Town secured Nottingham Forest's spot in the Championship play-offs. Luke Chambers deflected Robert Earnshaw's shot into the net just after the break to give The Reds the lead, before Guy Moussi scrambled home to double the advantage. Earnshaw found a third as he fired past Brian Murphy from close range to seal the three points.

Nottingham Forest produced a scintillating first-half display to beat Ipswich Town 4-1 at The City Ground in the Premiership. Stan Collymore put The Reds in front inside four minutes before Scott Gemmill made it two seven minutes later. Alf-Inge Haaland added a third before Stuart Pearce struck just before half time to ensure Forest had a big margin at the break. Claus Thomsen pulled one back before the half time whistle for the visitors but it didn’t stop The Reds from sealing the three points as they continued their early season form at the top of the Premiership table.

A barnstorming FA Cup sixth-round tie ended 3-3 at The City Ground in 1981. Ipswich raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a Paul Mariner strike and an own goal by Viv Anderson. But The Reds hit back to level before half time as Trevor Francis prodded home and Colin Walsh struck. A John Robertson penalty after half time gave Forest the lead for the first time but a fortuitous strike by Ipswich's Frans Thijssen levelled the contest and set up a replay at Portman Road which Ipswich won 1-0.
