Mark Warburton says a lot of work is going on behind the scenes to improve the squad ahead of the start of the new season.
Jason Cummings is the first addition to The Reds’ squad this summer, making the move from Scottish side Hibernian, and Warburton is keen to keep pushing on this summer.
He said: “A lot of work has gone on and sometimes you don’t see the fruits of the labour too early. The work going on behind the scenes has been tireless by Frank McParland and his team; Frank has been in every single day during the summer and we have had great support from the new owners.
“These deals take time, they can be complicated and I hope we can have another four or so players coming in but we will see how things progress.
“I have been delighted by the support we have been given by the new owners. The quality of contact and communication has been outstanding and you can see the work being done at The City Ground and the training ground and it gives everyone a boost. Our job is to now feed off that support and keep pushing the club forward.”
Warburton was delighted to add Cummings to the squad and believes the Scottish striker will relish the challenge of fighting for a place in the starting line-up.
He said: “Jason has come here to play. He is well aware of the competition but Jason has come here to play football and I love that desire. He recognises the challenge that lies ahead but wants to prove himself.
“He has come down, the boys have taken to him and he has shown his quality on and off the pitch and I am looking forward to seeing how he develops in the weeks and months ahead.”
