Danny Fox says the loyalty and passion shown by Nottingham Forest supporters doesn't surprise him as season card sales passed the 10,000 mark.
Fox was at the ticket office on Saturday to meet fans who were booking their seat for the 2017-18 campaign and the defender believes it is time the fans were rewarded for their support.
He said: "The numbers are really good. The season cards have only been on sale for a few weeks and to get 10,000 already is unbelievable so credit to the people that are buying them and long may it continue.
"We want the stadium packed out next season as when it has been packed out the fans have seen that it helps the team massively and it lifts us; it is like an extra player for us.
"If you look at the last game of the season and the Derby game as well with the last-minute goal, if the fans weren't upbeat and behind us until the last kick of the game I don't think we would have scored that goal. It does lift you and it does give you that extra five per cent or so to get through the game and score late on.
"That goal played a massive part in us staying in the division and the fans can play a huge part next season. Hopefully we can be a lot more consistent and have a good season and all enjoy it together.
"If you look at the fans last season, they stuck by us throughout it all and it showed how much it meant to them on the last game of the season when they all ran onto the pitch.
"It was massive that we stayed in the division and we need to start paying them back for their loyalty and the faith they have shown in us in the last three or four years since I have been here. This is a massive club and it deserves to be at the right end of the league and pushing on for promotion."
