Mark Warburton said his side’s sharpness is improving as The Reds secured their second pre-season victory this afternoon.
Goals from Jason Cummings, Tyler Walker and two from Apostolos Vellios sealed a 4-0 win against Mansfield Town and the manager was pleased with the workout.
He said: “It was a good workout and it was good to get all the changes in on the hour without losing the tempo of the game. We knew what to expect; they are physical and organised and it was another good workout in game number two.
“We will keep on working hard and we are looking forward to Tuesday night’s test now [against Girona].
“We were a bit sloppy and loose, giving the ball away too cheaply in the first half. That is part of pre-season to get the sharpness that you need and we learned from it. The space was on the flanks and the width and we counter attacked well three or four times but didn’t capitalise on it.
“At half time the players gave good feedback and in the second half we were good.”
