Nottingham Forest defender Danny Fox felt The Reds matched Leeds United for most of the game before falling to a 2-0 defeat.
Chris Wood struck first after a header was blocked from a corner and a screamer from Souleymane Doukara sealed the win, but Fox felt there was a lot of positives to take from the game.
He said: “We matched them more or less in the first half. Britt had a great chance in the first half and it was an even contest, then in the second half they got a lucky deflection in the box to score the first and then the boy has scored the second and he won’t score anything like that again in his life.
“It is one of those things and there are positives to take from the game as we showed good shape. We just need to go again as it is a massive game against Rotherham on Tuesday that we need to take three points from.”
Fox played at centre back in place of Matt Mills who picked up an injury in the win over Bristol City on Saturday and it is a role that he is keen to continue in.
He said: “I’m disappointed for Millsy coming off on Saturday but that is part of football. I am enjoying it and I feel comfortable there. I thought me and Hobbsy had a good partnership and he had to go off unfortunately with his injury and me and Mance also worked well. I’d like to stay there as I thought I did well towards the back end of last season and I just want to stay fit, stay in the team and play as well as I possibly can.
“If you look at the shape from the game on Saturday we were the better team and we were the only team looking to win that game. We started brightly tonight and they are higher in the league but we created a couple of good chances. We just need to continue what we are doing and the lads are showing a lot of desire to play for them.
“Jack, Gary and Pagey came in and it has been tough. They have been training us hard and we weren’t training as hard as we probably should have been before. We need to keep going and get ready for a massive game on Tuesday.”
