Nottingham Forest interim manager Gary Brazil felt his side deserved to get the three points in the 1-0 win over Bristol City.
Ben Osborn’s superb free kick was decisive as The Reds picked up their first win of 2017 and Brazil felt the effort put in by the team warranted three points.
Brazil said: “I think we deserved it. We asked for commitment and we asked for character from the players. We could have been better on the ball but the level of commitment we showed today was great and as the game went on we had some real men on the pitch.
“We showed some fantastic qualities and I was very proud of them. Can we get better on the ball? Absolutely. But the more games they win and the more confidence they get the performances will improve. In terms of the character and desire we showed to get the win and clean sheet I thought was fantastic.
“We want to be competitive when the opposition have the ball and the back four were fantastic. If we couldn’t win the first ball, we made sure we picked up the bits and we defended brilliantly. We could have had a little bit more quality in the last third but we will get that the more we work at it.
“It was a deserved win and I was chuffed to bits. Benny has come a long way for this football club and it was lovely to see him score with a little bit of class.”
Brazil felt that the staff, players and fans all coming together played its part in helping The Reds get a vital win.
He said: “We had some really big players today. Everybody that put on that red shirt the fans can be proud of. It is important that we get some pride into this football club and it is important that we stick together as staff, players and fans and that was a really good starting point today.”
