Nottingham Forest head coach Philippe Montanier believes it is crucial to get a result against Barnsley to start off the New Year.
The Tykes visit The City Ground on Monday for the first game of 2017 and Montanier is keen to bounce back from defeat at Newcastle on Friday night.
He said: “It is crucial as during this week we didn’t deserve to lose the two last games and against Barnsley we need the points. Barnsley is not the best team to play as they are very good away from home. But we have no choice and I hope to recover some players, but we also lost some players from Newcastle.
“I am impassioned to start the New Year well as in the first half season we were unlucky, like with the games against Huddersfield and against Newcastle, so perhaps we need the New Year to change our luck.”
The Reds ran out 5-2 winners at Oakwell earlier in the season and fans are being rewarded for their support with half-price tickets and Kids for a Quid.
Montanier said: “That was another game and a situation where we had some players playing who are not here for the next game, so it will be a different game for me and we need a good result, it will be crucial for us.
“It is a good opportunity to say thank you to our fans because at Newcastle again they were fantastic. We were disappointed about the defeat and the circumstances of the defeat for the fans as we heard the supporters every time.”
