Lewis Buxton restored the lead moments later though, converting Maguire’s corner. Joe Mattock gave The Owls a two-goal lead on 57 through his strike from the edge of the box. Marcus Tudgay reduced the arrears before Danny Collins was sent off for a second yellow card. Nottingham Forest 2 (Porfirio 14', Rogers 16') Sheffield Wednesday 0

A 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday was too late to stop The Reds from being relegated from the Premiership, but it started a run of three successive league victories to end the season and this fixture was the last time the two sides met in the top flight. Hugo Porfirio scored his only goal for the club after 14 minutes to put Forest in front and that lead was doubled two minutes later by Alan Rogers.

Nottingham Forest jumped up to third in the Premiership with the 4-1 defeat of Sheffield Wednesday at The City Ground in the 1994-95 season. Kingsley Black steered home Steve Stone’s shot from the edge of the box to give The Reds the lead and Lars Bohinen doubled the scoreline with a stunning half-volley. Graham Hyde pulled one back for Wednesday a few minutes later but a Stuart Pearce penalty after Simon Coleman handled restored the two-goal lead.
