Zach Clough says the Nottingham Forest team spirit is really good as the season gets underway against Millwall on Friday night.
The pre-season training camp in America played a big part in bonding the squad together and Clough believes that can play a part in getting the win on opening night.
He said: "It feels like pre-season went really quickly. I think that is because we enjoyed it and worked really hard. The trip to Florida really helped me personally and I am feeling fitter than I have been in a long time and we are all excited for Friday.
"The pre-season we have all had has helped us off the pitch as well. The banter is really good and it is a good changing room to be in at the minute and that will help us come November, December and January.
"Everyone is on the same page and knows what we need to do to be successful. Towards the end of last season there was a job to be done and we got it done. We played the way the manager wanted us to but we have started on a clean slate and we are all excited for the season."
Clough hopes that a packed City Ground could also make the difference with it set to be a sell-out crowd on Trentside.
He said: "We are all excited for Friday and the support the fans are showing is great. We have sold over 26,000 for Friday and to have almost a sell-out is great for the first game in the season.
"We have got to take every game as it comes but Friday will be tough. Millwall have their own way of playing and their own image but we will have to play our own game to get the job done."
