Mark Warburton was delighted to leave Griffin Park with three points as he felt Nottingham Forest should have put the game to bed earlier.
The Reds went behind but bounced back to take a half-time lead and Warburton feels they should have punished Brentford more on the counter attack.
He said: “I am disappointed in some ways. It was great to get the three points but we were in a strong position and we didn’t capitalise on that and made it hard work for ourselves. It is a tough place to come against a strong Brentford team but it is a pleasing three points.
“We weren’t getting out to them and we gave them a little bit too much respect in the first 15 minutes or so. They got the goal but it was a great response from us and we deserved the second goal as well.
“We came out after half time and got the third goal quickly but then we had a few counter attacks and we have got to finish the game off. We didn’t do that and that is the learning part of it, but it is a tough place to come, we leave with three points and move on.”
