Mark Warburton believes his side are heading in the right direction and he is looking forward to facing Middlesbrough today.
Forest suffered their first defeat of the season at Barnsley on Tuesday night but The Reds' boss felt there were plenty of positives to take from Oakwell.
He said: "We are in good form and Tuesday night shows we are heading in the right direction. The players are gelling, settling in and enjoying the way we are playing and we are looking forward to a tough challenge on Saturday.
"It has to get better. At a club of this stature we know what we have to do. We have six or seven new players, and maybe a couple more coming in. We have to bed them in and get them used to the club, with new surroundings as well as everything off the field. They have dealt with it and trained really well and we are delighted with what we have recruited.
"We have proven we can compete and it is about us. My biggest frustration on Tuesday night was that the players didn't get the rewards. We saw the improved tempo and intensity, better quality of play and forward passing and you want them to do that, see the rewards and link it together in the mindset."
