Liam Bridcutt said the lure of first-team football was a big factor in joining Nottingham Forest from Leeds United.
The 28-year-old has penned a three-year deal at The City Ground and believes he can add plenty of experience to the squad.
He said: "It feels good and I am happy to be here. I have spoken to the manager and had a good chat and he has brought me here to strengthen the squad and use my experience. The chat I had with him was positive and I am very happy to be here.
"It is something that has been ticking on for the last week or so. It happened quite quickly and I am happy that it got done as quickly as possible. I needed to be back playing regular football and hopefully I can do that.
"Everyone I have spoken to who has worked with the manager hasn't said a bad word about him and you can see from the results at previous clubs that he has a good track record. I think as a manager he is an honest guy and the way he wants to play suits me massively."
