Eric Lichaj said Nottingham Forest needs to build on their win over Huddersfield when they entertain Blackburn Rovers on Good Friday.
The American defender struck the opening goal in the win at The City Ground yesterday before Jamie Ward’s goal sealed a 2-0 win, and Lichaj said there is a positive mood in the camp.
He said: “We needed it, for sure, and we have a little bit of a gap [to the relegation zone]. We go on to Friday which is an even bigger game and if we can get a win there it will look even better for us.
“We should have been at least two goals up at half time, especially with Wardy’s header at the end which was a good save by the goalkeeper. We were creating chances; they didn’t know what to do. They made two substitutions at half time which was credit to us and how we were playing and Jamie ended getting the second which secured the game for us.
“Since the new manager has come in we are playing more attractive football and creating a lot of chances; we could have maybe scored six or seven today. Overall it is good, everyone is happy and we are looking forward to Friday.
“It was good to get on the scoresheet and to contribute. I could have had a second and should have done better with it.
“There is a bit more of a cushion but it doesn’t mean anything if we don’t get the result on Friday. We have got to put it behind us; it is a good result for us but we look to Friday and look to win that game.”
