It wasn't our day

18 April 2017

Nottingham Forest midfielder Mustapha Carayol said The Reds didn’t have the luck in front of goal as they lost 1-0 against Cardiff City.

Carayol got in many promising positions to cross or shoot but Forest couldn’t find the killer touch to put it in the back of the net.

He said: “At the moment it is our luck, they go and score a screamer, but we have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves down and go again. We need to forget about what has happened, get back to training and put things right.

“Sometimes you have those type of games and I thought I was very unlucky in front of goal. For me it is more of a confidence booster to know that I am getting in those type of positions and I know that on another day I would have got a goal. I was happy to be playing but it was more important to get the result.

“We were unlucky. We limited Cardiff to few attacking opportunities, we kept the ball well and we had a few chances to score. Sometimes you don’t get the rub of the green but we can’t dwell on it too much, we have got to roll our sleeves up next Saturday and give it another good go.”

Carayol believes that returning to The City Ground on Saturday against Reading can be a positive for the team.

He said: “We go again on Saturday; it is at home and we know the fans will be backing us so and we have done well at home, bar last Friday, and we are looking forward to it.

“I wouldn’t say we are concerned but we are in the position and we have got to deal with it. We are paid to deal with the pressure every day and we can’t really worry about what is going on elsewhere. We have three games left and we know we have got to try and win all three to guarantee safety. It is part of football, it is not a nice position to be in, but we have got to get on with it.”
