Brereton wins Apprentice of the Year award

10 April 2017

Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton was crowned the LFE Sky Bet Championship Apprentice of the Year at the EFL Awards last night.

The 17-year-old picked up his prize at the awards ceremony in London after beating Sheffield Wednesday's George Hirst and Bristol City's Lloyd Kelly to the award.

After starring for the Under 23 side this season, Brereton made his first-team debut away at Leeds United in January and has gone on to make 13 appearances, scoring goals against Fulham, Brentford and a memorable last-minute winner against Aston Villa at The City Ground.

The Apprentice of the Year award recognises achievements on the pitch as well as academic achievements while players complete their scholarships, and Brereton was commended for his disciplinary record and his community work.
