Match preview: Fulham (H)

27 September 2016

Nottingham Forest and Fulham will both want to put a disappointing week of results behind them when the two sides meet at The City Ground this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

An entertaining fixture involving plenty of goals is usually in store when Nottingham Forest and Fulham go head-to-head but Philippe Montanier will be hopeful of seeing his side record a victory and a clean sheet tonight.

Consecutive defeats in the league to Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday have seen Forest slip down the league table and The Reds will go in search of a morale-boosting win against Slavisa Jokanovic's out-of-form Fulham.

Just two places and two points currently separate the sides and, having shared 26 goals in their last five meetings, both teams will want to come out on top of another potential goal-fest at The City Ground this evening.

Damien Perquis could come back into the Forest squad for tonight's game having recovered sufficiently from a groin injury but head coach Philippe Montanier admits it may be too soon for the defender to start a game.

Henri Lansbury serves a one-match suspension this evening after picking up five yellow cards but David Vaughan could be in contention to take his place having recovered from injury to make the substitutes' bench on Saturday.

Fulham will be without the services of midfielder Kevin McDonald as he begins a three-match suspension following his red card at the weekend while Floyd Ayite and Ryan Fredericks look set to miss out through injury.

Ryan Sessegnon

Sixteen-year-old Ryan Sessegnon made his Fulham debut in the EFL Cup first-round win at Leyton Orient and his assured performances have since earned him regular slots in the first team.

The youngster, who is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs, made his home debut in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff and scored the opening goal before firing a last-minute equaliser to earn Fulham a point against Burton Albion two weeks ago.

A left-sided defender who loves to go forward and support attacks, Sessegnon is one of Fulham’s hottest prospects.

Slavisa Jokanovic: “I have to accept we were not in a good level, and this is very clear. We found some way how we want to play football, now we stopped following this way.

“We have to refresh our minds, we have to refresh our bodies, and understand what is in front of us. My job is to make the team. We didn’t play on Saturday like a team, and it’s in my hands to fix the problem.”
