Nottingham Forest Under 18s moved up to third in Professional Development League Two North with a thrilling 6-5 victory at Crystal Palace last weekend.
The home side took the lead after only seven minutes through Kian Flanagan’s strike but we soon turned the game on its head as Kyle McClean converted a penalty before Charlie Jemson was on hand to head home a corner at the back post to put us ahead.
Palace levelled shortly before half-time when Levi Lumeka raced through and slotted the ball past Jordan Wright and The Eagles then grabbed the advantage early in the second half when defender Lewis Byron netted from a corner at the second attempt.
We fell 4-2 behind soon after when Flanagan played a one-two with Lumeka before finishing smartly but that wasn’t going to put us off and we pulled a goal back through Jake Willetts as he scrambled home a corner from close range.
McClean was on hand to make it 4-4 as he punished some slack Palace defending before Virgil Gomis put us back in front when he latched on to a quickly-taken free-kick before producing a neat finish over the top of home goalkeeper Colm McAdden.
Palace thought they had snatched a point late on when Francis Njo Baptiste found the net via the far post but Gomis struck in the final few minutes to ensure we would take maximum points from this 11-goal thriller.
