Ben Brereton scored four as Nottingham Forest Under 23s thrashed Queens Park Rangers 5-0 at Loftus Road this afternoon.
Brereton stole the show as Jack Lester’s side bounced back from their heavy defeat against Brighton last weekend.
Lester included the likes of Jorge Grant, Jordan Smith and selected Joe Worrall as captain for the trip to the capital as The Reds looked for their first win in six.
It took Brereton just eight minutes to open his account when the number nine beat the offside trap and slotted the ball underneath Joe Lumley in The Hoops' goal.
Five minutes later he grabbed his second after a powerful surging run was again finished in style with his left foot.
The visitors continued to press in the second half and a third goal looked inevitable. It duly arrived on 58 minutes when Brereton completed his hat-trick with another neat run and finish.
The striker turned provider for Forest’s fourth when he unselfishly squared the ball to Lewis Walters who knocked it home into an empty net.
Brereton finished off an impressive afternoon for The Reds when he rounded Lumley and finished with ease to claim his fourth and Forest’s fifth.
