The Greek forward feels that the international break has allowed the squad a chance to regroup as they prepare to tackle a tough run of fixtures.
He said: “It has been difficult with the results, but we have had the international break and a week before the game. We have experienced players and we can look at it that we are starting from zero so we can go for the win. We have plenty of games, we are low right now but we have tried to change things to be better.
“We are a bit low in the league table, but we need the team, staff and supporters to be together as one so we can get as many points as possible. We have the quality in the squad; we have had some injuries but whoever is in the starting eleven needs to try their best.
“It is going to be a very important game as we really need the three points to feel more confident for the rest of the games and also for the fans. I understand the fans as it is difficult when you lose, but we need to be together as one so that we can go further. I know it is a historic team and we have had problems with the results, but we need to be together in good and bad times.”
Vellios feels that when fellow strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Britt Assombalonga both return to full fitness, Forest will have a potent strikeforce which could make the difference.
He said: “For me, I always try my best in training and in matches. As a striker, when I score I feel better and have more confidence. I would like to score more goals and I am happy about the goals but my goals have only brought a couple of points for the team.
“We have tried with one and with two strikers. I have played with Bendtner and with Britt and we did quite good. We have been able to use the international break to see how we play with two strikers and I think we can play great together.
“It is important with the players that you play with that you communicate off the pitch and with both of them I am good friends so it can work. I hope that both of them will be a good fit with me so there are more options to play up front.”
