Jorge Grant struck the winner as Nottingham Forest Under 23s claimed a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the Professional Development League on Monday night.
Ben Brereton gave The Reds the lead before Jamie Proctor equalised at Leyland, but Grant's smart finish secured the three points.
Grant and goalkeeper Stephen Henderson were both given chances to impress for Jack Lester's side, but it was Bolton that had the earliest opportunities. Max Clayton fired a couple of openings wide of the post in the first 20 minutes, and then he was denied by a superb block by Fred Nielsen.
It was The Reds that took the lead through Brereton on 34 minutes. Grant drove forward from midfield and found Anthony Wright on the left wing. His superb cross was met by the striker at the back post who looped a header back over 'keeper James Aspinall to put Forest 1-0 up.
Henderson was replaced by Tim Erlandsson at the break, and it only took two minutes for Bolton to restore parity, with Proctor on hand to tap home after Clayton's unselfish pull-back.
But Forest came again and retook the lead on 63 minutes. A smart passing move was finished off by Grant, who arrived into the box to fire a low shot past Aspinall.
The Reds were able to hold out for the win, securing their third win in the league this season.
