Nottingham Forest Under 18s recorded their fourth win on the bounce this afternoon as they won 3-1 at Barnsley.
The Reds took the lead with only a minute on the clock as Luke McCormick put them in front after converting a long ball over the top of the back four but Barnsley levelled midway through the first half as Kane Swinburn fired home.
It was all-square at the break but Forest came out strongly after half-time and retook the lead as Will Swan headed home from close range before McCormick added a third moments later with a smart finish.
The game was, however, marred by a nasty injury to Keith Asare who was taken to hospital with a potential dislocated ankle and head coach Gareth Holmes says it did put a dampener on the victory.
He said: "We obviously want to send our best wishes to Keith and wish him a speedy recovery. He's a young player who has performed well this season and it is disappointing to lose him to injury.
"The performance and result were good. I was pleased with the quality of our attacking play, we were creative and inventive on the ball but we also worked exceptionally hard without it to try and prevent their attacks.
"I think we can be more clinical and I felt we could have had more goals but we had a great desire to play and to create and that was very pleasing. It is another very good result for us to build on."
