Nottingham Forest defender Eric Lichaj says he ‘didn’t hesitate’ to sign an extension to his contract.
Lichaj has committed his future to the club until 2018 after singing a one-year extension yesterday.
And the American was delighted to commit his long-term future to the club.
He said: “I’m really pleased. I’ve really grown to like Nottingham and my family love it here. It’s a great place to be and I enjoy playing in front of the fans at The City Ground.
“I didn’t even hesitate. I said: ‘Let’s do it as soon as possible’, because I want to stay here and be successful.
“Everyone is working hard behind the scenes – the stuff fans don’t see. Everyone’s gelling together. We’re trying to do something special here and that’s why I didn’t hesitate in signing an extension.”
Lichaj admitted yesterday didn’t pan out completely as he’d wished after playing 90 minutes in the 3-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
The full back said: “They dominated the match and we were too far off it - and obviously the scoreline tells that.
“We prepared the same way, it was just one of those days where we couldn’t get going. They were playing quite well and we couldn’t get in their faces.
“It was a difficult afternoon and I don’t want to remember it. It’s going to be tough to take.”
