Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman declared himself ‘very satisfied’ with this evening’s victory over Preston North End.
The Reds emerged 1-0 victors at The City Ground and Freedman feels the right team won.
He said: “I’m very satisfied. I thought we deserved to win the game. It could have been a lot more – we created good chances and I thought it was a good performance.
“It was a little bit nervous at the end and credit to Preston, they kept on going, but it was a well-deserved three points.”
Nelson Oliveria was the match-winner, rounding off Ryan Mendes’ quick counter attack by tapping the ball home from Ben Osborn’s unselfish lay-off shortly before the break.
The forward appeared to have a groin injury when he was substituted in the second half but Freedman is confident he’ll be available for this weekend’s match against Sheffield Wednesday, when he hopes the Portuguese international can build on tonight’s display.
Freedman said: “We’ve all got to be patient with Nelson. He’s a wonderful player who sometimes does the unexpected. We’ve got to remember that he’s a flair player and sometimes he’s going to give the ball away in certain areas.
“But I thought he showed a good goal threat tonight, took his goal well and showed good running off the ball.
“I thought Ryan Mendes and Nelson were right on the top of their game tonight.”
