In addition, Emily Leary from Nottingham and the creator of the popular ‘A Mummy Too’ blog will be providing her expertise to help everyone get the most out of a trip to the capital – including itineraries for families to enjoy the sights and sounds of London, with many places to visit and enjoy for free!

Events will also be taking place in Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester over the coming weeks – offering a London style photo booth and prize draws to win free tickets, family days out and event tickets.

Advance tickets to all destinations go on sale 12 weeks in advance, with the cheapest tickets available up to three weeks before travelling. However, when they’re gone – they’re gone!

By booking in advance, and using a Family and Friends Railcard* – a family of four could travel from Sheffield to London for just £66.20.

Marc Turley/Andrew Conroy, East Midlands Trains, said: “Summer Travel Inspiration is all about showing our customers how cheap, quick and convenient it is to jump on a train and head to London for a day out or short break.

“So why not have a look at our website, read the suggestions from our guest blogger Emily, or visit us in a town centre near you to get some inspiration and travel to London with East Midlands Trains this summer.”

Emily Leary, Author of ‘A Mummy Too’, added: “As a family of four, London is one of our favourite day trip destinations. There’s so much to see and do, no two trips are ever the same.

“I’m delighted to be sharing some of our top things to see and do in the capital, which should help families get the very best from their next visit."

Family and Friends Railcards cost £30 and are available from or ticket offices.
