Eric Lichaj is looking forward to what he believes will be a test of Nottingham Forest’s adaptability against SC Braga this evening. The Reds take on the Portuguese top-flight side at Estadio Da Nora, close to Forest’s training base, at 6.30pm.
Philippe Montanier’s men will be looking to make it back-to-back wins following Tuesday’s victory over Millwall.
But Lichaj knows Braga’s approach will be different and that he and his team-mates will need to adapt to compete.
The American told Forest Player HD: “It will still be hot and a physical test, and it’ll definitely be a big test for us to see how we cope against different opposition to Millwall, who were a bit more physical and direct.
“Everybody is looking forward to hopefully doing everything we’ve learned in training in the last couple of weeks to impress the manager.”
Lichaj is always looking for ways to improve his game and, this summer, weight loss and crossing have been high on his agenda.
He said: “I’ve set myself the target of losing a little bit of weight to make sure I’m quicker and can run an extra 1-2km per game, which might help either offensively or defensively.
“Being with the USA I didn’t have much of a break but it kept my fitness levels up so I started off quite high coming into pre-season.
“I think I’ve slightly improved with the crossing aspect - it’s important for me to get a few more assists in a season.
“The manager is more than happy for me to join in when the ball is on my side, but when the ball’s on the other side I have to stay disciplined and help out the centre backs.”
