Under 18s 6-2 Coventry

9 January 2016

Ben Brereton took his tally to 22 for the season with a brace as Nottingham Forest’s Under 18s thrashed Coventry City 6-2 at The Nigel Doughty Academy this afternoon.

The table-topping youngsters kept up their superb form with further goals from Liam Adams, Anthony Wright, Joe Re and Alex Iacovitti to add to Brereton’s double.

Forest quickly got out of the blocks and took the lead through Adams, before Brereton doubled the advantage with a confident finish. The Sky Blues responded thanks to Ronee Hendricks, but Anthony Wright regained the two-goal lead with a well-directed strike.

Chris Camwell sent the visitors into the break with a glimmer of hope, but Jack Lester’s side were rampant in the second-half to ensure the win.

Brereton dispatched a penalty to give the hosts a breather, while up the other end Jordan Wright made a brilliant save to deny Coventry converting a penalty of their own.

Re got his second of the campaign and notched Forest’s fifth overall, and the rout was completed when Iacovitti rose highest inside the box to head home a cross.

Brereton also netted a hat-trick in a 5-4 friendly win over Aston Villa on Monday and today's goals now take his tally for the season to 31 including pre-season games and friendly matches.

Forest: J.Wright, Re, Jemson, Iacovitti, Gamblen, Adams (Gomis 75’), Taylor, Otim, A Wright (McClean 67’), Hayes (Appiah 71’), Brereton
