Nottingham Forest defender Jack Hobbs was happy to be part of a ‘professional’ performance at Middlesbrough yesterday.
The Reds scored a second-half goal through Jamie Ward and their defence remained resolute to beat the table toppers on their own turf.
And Hobbs was thrilled with the way the team played. He said: “Great win for us – we’re delighted with that. To come to the team who are top of the table and get a win and a clean sheet is fantastic.
“It was all about trying to get the ball down and play it through their midfield really, and it worked. In the second half we had to soak a lot up and we showed that we’re a threat on the counter attack.
“I thought it was a really thorough, professional job from the lads. We’ve just got to build on it.
“We’re getting a bit of momentum going now and if we can put in performances like that week in, week out we’ll be delighted.”
With Michael Mancienne occupying a defensive midfield role at the Riverside, Hobbs stepped in at centre back.
And the former Leicester man hopes to be involved again when The Reds host QPR on Tuesday.
He said: “It’s been frustrating for me and Kelvin. We’ve just had to remain ready, stay as fit as we can and step in when called upon.
“I was happy to be starting [at Middlesbrough] and to do my bit for the team. I want to make it a tough decision for the gaffer on Tuesday.”
