Nottingham Forest full back Eric Lichaj has enjoyed a full week’s preparation for tomorrow’s match at Middlesbrough.
The post-Christmas schedule threw up many a midweek encounter but a feeling of normality returned to the Nigel Doughty Academy recently with manager Dougie Freedman able to focus fully on a weekend trip to Teesside.
And, from a player’s point of view, Lichaj says it’s been helpful to have more time to prepare.
The right back told Forest Player HD: “It’s nice after the hectic Christmas period – doing weights and resting on certain days before the chaos starts again next week.
“The manager basically stripped back down to basics and made sure we recognised what we were doing with our shape.
“Paul Williams has been putting a few things in our head with patterns of play out through the back to get our wide men and forwards involved, which is always good to refresh yourself with.”
The American said: “Middlesbrough are top of the table so it will be a difficult game. Everybody’s got to be up for the challenge and I think we are.
“The manager has given us some instructions on how to beat them – what their strengths and weaknesses are – and hopefully we can exploit them.”
