Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall said it was a poor day at the office for The Reds as they lost 2-0 against Wolves at The City Ground.
Worrall felt the team should have given more to get a result from the match and the players should be desperate to go out on the pitch and perform for the club.
He said: “It’s disappointing as we have put ourselves into a bit of a scrap at the bottom of the table and they have come in and out-played us. I think as a collective we didn’t back each other up enough, there were individual mistakes and it comes down to determination at the end of the day.
“I have been relishing the chance to come in and play and I was embarrassed to pick up the man of the match award as I don’t think I deserved it or any of us deserved it. It was just a poor day for us.
“Whenever we go out on the pitch, whether it is home or away, the belief is there that we can beat whoever we play against. Newcastle came here and we beat them, Derby was a bit of a dark day, but whoever we play we have the confidence.
“We have had a lot of injuries but that is no excuse, the players out there should relish the chance to play for the club and go out and give their best but it didn’t happen today.
“I don’t think some players relish it as much as they should. I am relishing playing in the starting team. Every chance I get I want to be the best I can be and I don’t think there were many players who did that today.”
Worrall feels that the fans have every right to criticise the team for their performance and that something needs to be done to stop the side getting caught up in a relegation battle.
He said: “It was dead-beat and the fans are right. I have seen some of their reactions and it is spot on. Something needs to be done quickly otherwise we are going to be right down there and it is very hard to get out.
“We need to dust ourselves off and go again though as the only ones who can change it are the players that the gaffer puts out. We were more than capable of getting a result today but it hasn’t happened and we need to go again and try and get the win next time to help us and climb the table.”
