Nottingham Forest secured a fourth successive win in the Championship by defeating Newcastle at The City Ground. Dexter Blackstock’s goal just before half-time was enough to seal the points for The Reds, with Newcastle slipping off of top spot with their second defeat of the season.
Nottingham Forest progressed in the FA Cup by winning the fourth round replay against Newcastle at The City Ground. The first tie ended 2-2 at St James Park five days earlier, and goals from Nigel Clough (below), Steve Hodge and Garry Parker secured The Reds’ passage into the fifth round. Forest would go on to reach the final, losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Nottingham Forest ended the 1986/87 season on a high as they beat Newcastle 2-1 at The City Ground. A Colin Foster header and a Stuart Pearce penalty gave Forest a 2-0 lead at half-time before Paul Gascoigne pulled one back for The Magpies. The result meant that The Reds finished eighth in the First Division.
A John Robertson penalty and a tap-in by Viv Anderson ensured Nottingham Forest maintained their position at the top of the First Division with a 2-0 win over Newcastle. Forest would go on to win their first ever top flight title.
Nottingham Forest cruised to a 4-0 win over Newcastle at The City Ground as they maintained a strong start to the 1967/68 season. Goals from Henry Newton, Joe Baker, Frank Wignall and Ian Storey-Moore (below) secured all three points to lift Forest to fourth place after seven matches before eventually finishing eleventh.
Nottingham Forest secured their passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Newcastle with a 3-0 win at The City Ground. Goals from John Barnwell, Joe Baker and Frank Wignall secured the win. Forest would go on to reach the semi-finals before losing 2-1 to Tottenham at Hillsborough.
