Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga is hoping to return for the Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield Town to help turn The Reds' form around.
Assombalonga has missed the last three matches which has brought a draw and two defeats for The Reds, and he hopes to make his comeback at the John Smith’s Stadium.
He said: “I’m all good. I’ve been training for the past few days. It has been frustrating picking up little niggles here and there, but I’m discovering a different side of my body after my injury. The knee is all fine, it is just a change in my body after having the surgery and I have to get used to being a bit different.
“Coming back before I was going a bit 100 miles per hour as I wanted to play every game, so I have had to slow down a bit and pull myself out of training. But slowly I am discovering what is best for me and it should work.
“Everything is coming along in the way I want it to so we will just have to see when it comes to it. The manager makes the decisions but I am taking my time to get things right and I’ve been speaking to the manager every day about how I am feeling.
“For everyone it has been hard not getting the results but that is football and everyone is trying hard to turn things around. It doesn’t help with the injuries but we are trying to get the results.”
Assombalonga says it will have to be a team effort to start picking up results again, and the players can look to the three games prior which brought three wins in a row.
He said: “Everyone is a big player and plays their part. Everyone wants to play and when everyone is fit we are all fighting for the spots.
“It has been frustrating as I always want us to win. To see how the results have turned out has not been good and I want that to turn around. I don’t want us to be in 17th in the table, I want us to be up there, and with the players we have got we should be up there. These last three games haven’t been for us but the three games prior to that we looked like a team that could win every game.
“I want to play as many games as I can. With it being a tough start to the season for me, I have got to make sure I am right and doing the right things leading up to games and not doing too much.
“We have great strikers here, it doesn’t all fall on me. It is a team game and we are a team and that is when you get promoted, when you are a team and not individuals. The games when we won we looked like a proper team.
“It is nice when you have everyone together fighting fit and it gives everyone a boost and the person on the pitch a reason to play well as they have someone breathing down their neck.”
