Nottingham Forest midfielder Pajtim Kasami says it was vital to get a win on the opening day after The Reds' 4-3 victory over Burton Albion at The City Ground.
The former Fulham man came on as a half-time substitute for Jorge Grant, putting in a positive second-half display, and says he enjoyed playing in front of the Forest fans for the first time.
He said: "It was a great experience, we managed to take the win and that was important. At times we lost concentration and conceded bad goals but we know how and where we need to improve.
"Overall though it is a good three points. It is always important to get a win on the first day of the season and we've done that so everyone in the dressing room is really pleased."
Having only signed for the club on Wednesday, Kasami was apprehensive about making his debut this afternoon but feels his performances will only get better once he is completely settled into life on Trentside.
He said: "My job is to help the team and create chances so I'm looking forward to playing for Forest. I'm quite fit but the problem is I've had a tough seven to ten days with all the speculation around my transfer.
"I'm match-fit but I only arrived in England four days ago so I'm still settling in. I will improve as the time goes on and hopefully you'll see a really good Pajtim Kasami in the future.
"The players are all very nice and have made me feel really welcome. I've spent three years in England with Fulham so I know the culture and hopefully that will make life even easier for me in the coming weeks."
