A long-overdue victory

23 April 2016

Nottingham Forest head coach Paul Williams says today's convincing win had been coming for the players.

The Reds ran out 3-1 winners over Fulham, Henri Lansbury (2) and Robert Tesche with the goals.

And Wiliams was happy to see the result reflect a dominant display from his men.

He said:"I enjoyed the result for the players. They gave us a performance today - with goals being the icing on the cake. I think we've had that coming.

"The lads controlled the game from start to finish in my opinion. We were brave on the ball in tight areas and credit to the back line too - they had to put their bodies on the line.

"We can now believe we're a good team who can create chances. The all-round performance was pleasing and if we finish the season really well we can hopefully come back next season in the same frame of mind."

With only two matches left of the 2015-16 campaign, Williams says he is involved in putting plans together for next season.

He said: "I'm in this chair until the end of the season and I think it's my duty. The infrastructure has to be there - we have to start talking about what players the club want to bring in and also how we're going to plan our pre-season.

"Ideally you don't want to leave it late, you want to put next season's building blocks in place now. We need a squad that's going to be challenging because you look at the fans today - unbelievable support, overwhelming at times. As a club we need to give them more days like this."
