Relishing the responsibility

11 September 2015

Nottingham Forest captain Henri Lansbury says ‘it’s been brilliant’ to lead the team this season.

Lansbury has been given the armband by Dougie Freedman and has no intention of letting the responsibility slip from his grasp.

The midfielder told Forest Player HD: “It’s been brilliant. The gaffer gave me the armband last year and it’s now a case of keeping hold of it and leading by example.

“I’m not a captain who will shout at everyone but if I lead by example on the pitch hopefully my team-mates will all follow that.

“There’s a good dressing room at the minute and I think the new boys have settled in well.”

Lansbury admits the international break was a timely one for him, but he is now looking forward to getting back to action at QPR this weekend.

He said: “I think it came at a good time. I had a tear in my thigh so it gave me an extra week’s rest. Touch wood, it’s healed quite well.

“Now I’m raring to go and I think the boys are as well.”
