Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi is looking forward to a ‘special atmosphere’ at this afternoon’s kids for a quid match. The Reds face Middlesbrough at The City Ground (kick-off 12.30pm) and under 12s can watch the game for only £1.
And in his matchday programme notes Al Hasawi writes how he is anticipating an exciting encounter.
‘Kids for a quid matches always breed a special atmosphere and, combined with the fact both teams are in good form and the match is being broadcast live on Sky Sports, today’s game has all the hallmarks of being a memorable one.
‘Many of our supporters will be excited to catch their first glimpse of our new signings this afternoon. An immense amount of work from a number of people culminated in a busy and successful transfer window for the club. I would like to thank everyone involved and the fans for their patience as we looked to sign the best possible players.
‘Today’s match isn’t the only exciting event coming to The City Ground. We are proud to be hosting the world premiere of I Believe In Miracles, the film about our 1979 European Cup winning team, on Sunday 11 October.
‘The filmmaker Jonny Owen, whose thoughts you can read on page 18, was keen to give the film its first public showing at a meaningful venue and we were very happy to oblige.
‘While we will always treasure our past, the future is very much our priority. For that reason it is my pleasure to welcome The Nottingham Building Society to this afternoon’s match, when they will present our academy with a cheque for more than £200,000.
‘Our partnership with The Nottingham continues to go from strength to strength and their support has been so important to the excellent recent work carried out in our academy.’
Today's cover design was originally used in the 1977-78 season. Inside, readers will find the thoughts of I Believe In Miracles stars Frank Clark, John Robertson, John O’Hare and Colin Barrett, plus an in-depth interview with Tyler Walker following his goalscoring debut for England’s Under 20s.
The programme (£3) will be available to purchase at the City Ground megastore and from sellers around the stadium.
