Back to his old self

16 September 2015

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn says he felt like his ‘old self’ again in last night’s match at Birmingham.

The young midfielder has suffered a frustrating season so far due to illness and injury and he was left out of the squad at QPR on Saturday.

But he played the full 90 minutes in last night’s impressive victory at Birmingham and said after the match that he feels he is getting closer to full fitness.

Osborn said: “I felt like my old self again for the first time this season, including pre-season. I’ve been in a battle to get my fitness back.

“I had a shoulder problem and then a bad case of food poisoning, from which I lost a lot of weight. I just couldn’t really seem to put it back on. I felt energy-less.

“But in the last week of training, and tonight, I felt back to normal.”

The Reds emerged victorious after a resolute defensive display and a Dexter Blackstock goal.

Osborn said: “We came out in the second half and wanted to get on top of them in the first 10-15 minutes, and we got the goal.

“After that we carried on pushing before sitting back and letting the ball go in front of us.

“They didn’t really look like scoring.”
